Efamol

Our unique Rigel Evening Primrose has been selectively grown by Efamol. Its seed contains 33% more GLA than other Evening Primrose oils.†

We batch test to ensure every batch has the stated level of GLA.
Others

Standard Evening Primrose oils have less GLA content. They are not extracted as carefully, so the GLA can be damaged.

No batch testing - GLA content varies.
Efamol

Efamol has been the international leader in the scientific research and development of fatty acid supplements for over 40 years.

We only use the Rigel Evening Primrose seed, selectively grown and researched by us.

There have been well over 750 scientific publications on the active ingredient in Evening Primrose Oil, and over 350 of those have been on clinical studies using Efamol products.
Others

Non-specialist, mass produced, lower efficacy due to lower GLA content.

Standard Evening Primrose seed used.
Efamol

A high quality, clear, golden oil that in many cases is visibly distinct from competitor oils.

Our unique extraction process ensures that the natural antioxidants in the oil are maintained, keeping it as nature intended.

Grown in perfect conditions in the Netherlands and New Zealand. Every bottle can be traced back to the farm, click here to trace yours.
Others

Heavily refined, pale and bland oil.

Heat, light and pressure are often used in extraction, which can damage the oil’s natural antioxidants.

Often mass grown in poor soil conditions.

Each batch is tested for GLA content, to ensure it meets the stated amount at expiry.

Independently tested for safe long term use.*

How our Evening Primrose Oil is made

We Grow

Rigel Evening Primrose is selectively grown just for Efamol in perfect conditions in the Netherlands and New Zealand. It's seeds contain 33% more GLA than the standard Evening Primrose.

We Harvest

Rigel Evening Primrose only flowers for 24 hours, so we harvest on long, hot days. Our farms have the perfect balance of rainfall and sun, fresh water supply and fertile soils for a good harvest.

We Extract

Our careful extraction process creates the purest oil, retaining its natural properties and its rich, golden colour. Each batch is tested for GLA content, and can be traced right back to the farm.
Every bottle can be traced back to the farm

*The research was conducted between 18 September - 26 November 2020 with 77 women aged 18-65 years. The study was conducted by Cue Consumer Research. The study group took 6 x 500mg capsules a day for 12 weeks.

†Efamol Evening Primrose Oil contains 115mg of GLA per 1000mg capsule. A survey of standard Evening Primrose Oil available on the high street shows an average GLA content of 8.3mg per 1000mg. The difference between these two figures is 38.5%. Allowing for natural variations of GLA we have rounded this down to 33%.
