Help for Hyperactive Kids

ADHD (attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder) is on the increase in children, but and American study* has found there is a nutritional way to ease symptoms. Scientists gave ADHD kids Efalex – a supplement rich in the fatty acid DHA, which makes up much of the fatty material in your brain – and found it reduced stubbornness, outbursts of temper and acts of defiance.

Efalex costs £18.48 for 240 capsules (a two month supply) from health stores, and comes as a liquid, too. If that seems a bit steep, you can probably get similar benefits from giving your child oily fish a couple of times a week. For more information, read The LCP Solution (The Remarkable Nutritional Treatment for ADHD, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia), by Dr Jacqueline Stordy and Malcolm Nichol (Macmillan, £14.99)
