Evening Primrose Oil – Scientifically Proven To Heal Irritated Skin

New study shows Efamol Pure Evening Primrose Oil repairs structure and improves appearance of dry and irritated skin.

A new clinical trial, soon to be published in Cosmetics and Toiletries confirms that Efamol Pure Evening Primrose Oil aids the healing of dry and irritated skin and significantly improves its appearance in just three months .

The study, undertaken by Derma Consult GmbH – a leading independent dermatology research group in Germany – found that volunteers showed improvements of between 10-25% in skin moisture, smoothness, firmness and strength after supplementing their daily diet with six 500mg capsules of Efamol Pure Evening Primrose Oil.

Furthermore, the randomised, double blind, placebo controlled, parallel trial of 40 men and women between the ages of 32 and 60 indicated that Efamol Pure Evening Primrose Oil may also reduce the impact of further irritation by maintaining skin health.

Efamol Pure Evening Primrose Oil contains high levels of the Omega-6 essential fatty acid, gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). GLA plays an active role in the normal structure of every single cell membrane in the body and is an essential element for skin structure. A lack of GLA quickly leads to dry skin because the cells become less efficient at retaining moisture.

As a result of changing lifestyles and diet over recent decades, even healthy people can suffer with dry, rough and itchy skin. Modern day cleaning products and soaps can be quite harsh and be a common cause of skin irritation. One way of ensuring that the skin receives an optimum supply of GLA is by supplementing the diet with evening primrose oil. A study published in 2005 even found that Efamol Pure Evening Primrose Oil can reverse the effects of skin ageing by improving skin elasticity and firmness to give a more youthful glow to normal healthy skin .

Efamol Pure Evening Primrose Oil is made from a patented seed called Rigel that produces oil containing up to 33% more GLA than other evening primrose oils. It is extracted in a manner unique to Efamol which maintains all the natural properties of the seed and its efficacy has been proven in more than 300 clinical trials in humans.

Nancy Morse, Senior Scientific Advisor at Efamol comments, “Over twenty-five years of clinical research has proven the benefits of Efamol Pure Evening Primrose Oil in relieving the symptoms of a variety of conditions including atopic eczema (dermatitis). This revealing study shows that Efamol Pure Evening Primrose Oil aids the healing of damaged skin to make its condition even better than it was prior to injury.”
